You know it will be a formidable challenge but you are not sure whether you can swim, bike, and run the distance. You are intrigued!! This training program can help. The goal of the program will be for an athlete to complete a sprint distance triathlon. This is an 8 week program for the novice triathlete, meeting twice a week for 60 minutes. You should be able to comfortably run 20 minutes to begin this program.

You have done the sprint triathlons and are looking for a new challenge. This program is for the athlete wanting to try a longer distance triathlon, improve individual skills, and learn open water swim techniques. The goal of the program will be to complete an olympic distance triathlon. This is a 12 week program for the intermediate triathlete. You should be able to comfortably run a 5K to begin this program.
When it's time to go the distance . . .
Are you ready to take on the Half Iron Distance (1.2 mile swim, 52 mile bike, 13.1 mile run) in Traithlon? You have completed an olympic distance triathlon and are ready to jump to the next level. Taking on this distance requires the time to train; peak week plan on 12 - 15 hours of training. This program is for the athlete wanting to train longer distances and improve individual skills.

Triathlon Training Program participants receive:
- A complete training schedule and calendar with detailed workouts
- Pool swim training sessions at Gold's Gym
- Open water swim training sessions for 201 and 301 programs
- Educational clinics including: bike maintenance, race day prep, transition set-up and nutrition planning
- Weekly e-mail from the coach with tips, advice and motivation/encouragement
- E-mail support – the coach will answer individual questions regarding training and running related issues
- Technical fiber shirt and swim cap
- Special discounted race entry price to local target race
Each training session will focus on a different phase of training, from swimming to transitioning. To participate you will need at a minimum, running/walking shoes, bicycle, helmet, and a willing mind and body. Group Sessions: Swim practice on Wednesday mornings at 6:00 or 7:00 am or Friday mornings at 6:00am. Brick workouts (bike, run, sometimes swim) Saturdays or Sundays when the weather is above 50o, or an alternative indoor workout when the weather is below 50o.
