Triathlon 101  - Sprint Distance Triathlon

 You are looking for a challenge . . .
     the triathlete in you is screaming to come out . . .


You know it will be a formidable challenge but you are not sure whether you can swim, bike, and run the distance. You are intrigued!! This training program can help. The goal of the program will be for an athlete to complete the Springbrook Sprint Triathlon in August.

This is an 8 week program for the novice triathlete, meeting twice a week for 60 minutes. You should be able to comfortably run 20 minutes to begin this program

New for Summer 2012, Fleet Feet Sports and Maryville Parks and Recs have joined up to offer a 6 week program for novice triathletes, meeting at the Springbrook Pool. This program meets once a week for 90 minutes. You should be able to comfortably run 20 minutes to begin this program. For more information, click here.

Triathlon 201  - Open Water Triathlon

Ever wanted to complete a longer distance triathlon? . . .
    Learn open water swim techniques? . . .
         Get faster transition times?


You have done the sprint triathlons and are looking for a new challenge. This program is for the athlete wanting to try a longer distance triathlon, improve individual skills, and learn open water swim techniques. The goal of the program will be to complete either Fall Creek Falls or Storm the Fort in August.

This is a 12 week program for the intermediate triathlete. You should be able to comfortably run a 5K to begin this program.

Triathlon Training Program participants receive:
      A complete training schedule and calendar with detailed workouts
      Pool swim training sessions for Tri 101 program
      Open water swim training sessions for Tri 201 program
      Educational clinics including: bike maintenance, race day prep, transition set-up and nutrition planning
      Weekly e-mail from the coach with tips, advice and motivation/encouragement
      E-mail support – the coach will answer individual questions regarding training
        and running related issues
      Technical fiber shirt, water bottle and swim cap

Each training session will focus on a different phase of training, from swimming to transitioning. To participate you will need at a minimum, running/walking shoes, bicycle, helmet, and a willing mind and body. We'll supply you with the knowledge to complete your triathlon.

    Tri101 – Thur, May 31st at 5:00pm.
    Tri201 – Thur, May 17th at 5:00pm.
