The first weekend in May, Fleet Feet Knoxville once again headed to the Tennessee School for the Deaf for the annual kids run and Run for the Deaf 5k. On Friday morning, FFK owners Shahin and Cheryl along with marketing assistant Katlyn set up a water stop at the one-mile kids run for the students of TSD. With help from student volunteers, they passed out water and cheered on students. They even learned how to applaud in sign language!
On Saturday, the Fleet Feet training groups joined hundreds of other participants at TSD for the 5k. For the No Boundaries and Walk Fit training groups, the Run for the Deaf was the culmination of 10 weeks of hard work and training. Some were hoping to set a new personal record, and some simply wanted to cross the finish line, but they all came prepared and ready to go the distance! Everyone finished the 5k, many of them for the first time. Fleet Feet is thrilled to play a part in helping the people of Knoxville get started on their path to a healthy, active lifestyle, while at the same time supporting local causes like the Tennessee School for the Deaf. We can't wait for next year!
